about

Skip Heller's last two "official" trio albums were cut for the Ropeadope label, and show a development that planted the group deeper in jazz traditions while using the American songbook almost as a resource of last resort. Instead, Skip and company drew on a rich tapestry of influences, from Joe Meek to calypso, the Band, bluegrass, Rev Gary Davis, Stevie Wonder, post punk, and more. Some of his most acclaimed work.
